GETTING SPINES HEALTHY AGAIN

LOWER BACK EXTENSION EXERCISES

Lower back extension exercises may play an important role in your Chiropractic BioPhysics corrective program.
This series of exercises will help you increase the stability of lower back by strengthening you lower back extensor muscles. By doing so, this will help support your adjustment and spinal traction.
It is recommended that you work through theses exercises prior to using your lumbar (lower back) Denneroll at home.

Lower back extension exercises #1: Superman

This first video demonstrates a “Superman” exercise with the reps and set below:
Reps: 12-15
Sets: 2-3

Lower back extension exercises #2: Fit/Swiss ball holds

For this exercise you will need a fit/Swiss ball. This is similar to the first video in this series, however this time, you will be holding in the extended position instead of moving.
We recommend you work up to a 45-60 second hold, for 3-5 sets.

Lower back extension exercises #3: Hinging

This video will demonstrate a hinge movement. This is a fundamental movement pattern which requires you to “hinge” at you hips i.e. move your hips, whilst you keep a stable lower back. Integrating this movement pattern in daily activities and tasks allows you to move more efficiently and reduces the likelihood of disc injuries. It’s suggested you do not rush this movement. Focus on slow and controlled movement, ensuring you develop a proper movement pattern and brain body connection.

Consistency

Time and repetition is something you have probably heard our Newcastle Chiropractor Sasha say before. It’s the same principle when it comes to your adjustments, spinal traction and exercise.

There’s no quick fix or short cut to truly getting and keeping your spine healthy, it takes consistency. When you commit to improving your health and take action, it usually helps you get the best results!
